David6

David6 (John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2)

138b. David6 Quimby (John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2), born about 1770, married Susan BOYNTON, daughter of John and Hannah (Taylor) BOYNTON II, and sister of Sarah BOYNTON who married David's brother Amos. Unlike his brother, David lived out his life in Maine.Last enumerated in 1850 in Portland, Maine. Susan died January 12, 1854 and David died May 10, 1854.

Chase mentions that David Quimby was one of the early teachers in Wiscasset in 1795. The Registry of Deeds at Wiscasset refers to him in 1803 as a schoolmaster and again in 1807 as a “gentleman”. It seems, with his name, that he is almost surely the person who David Quimby Cushman was named for in 1806.

David Quimby Cushman was born in Wiscasset, Dec. 2, 1806, according to the Annals of the Town of Warren by Cyrus Eaton. His parents were Kenelm and Hannah (Boynton) Nutter Cushman. Fannie S. Chase mentions David Cushman’s family several times in Wiscasset in Pwnalborough. His younger brother, Sidney Beaman Cushman, became a medical doctor and lived much of his life in Wiscasset. His younger sister, Sarah Spring Cushman, married, second, Sendol B. Munger and went with him to India as a missionary.

NOTE:  Hannah BOYNTON,  spouse of Kenelm CUSHMAN was another daughter of John and Hannah (Taylor) BOYNTON II.
